There are many parties nowadays that will offer a will writing service. These are detailed below along with their pros and cons. At Assurance Wills one of the key things is that everything is very transparent and you will not be hit by unexpected problems or charges further down the line.

Solicitors

These can be very expensive and often the solicitors are not specifically trained in will writing, as they practice many different types of law. They will often appoint themselves as executors, which will lead to further costs down the line

Banks

Many banks and other providers offer a ‘free’ will writing service. However in reality this free service comes at a cost, as the bank will usually be appointed as the executor and will then charge up to 5% of the value of your gross estate for this service. This can mount to many thousands of £’s. The wills can often be very simple and do not cater for specific circumstance.

DIY wills

Cheap, but no professional advice given. Often this can cause problems as your will would not serve the purpose it is there for. These are also not checked and a wrong term of mistake can be contested by people when it comes to the time to action your will, which can leave a family in turmoil.
